Miami Lighthouse held a luncheon attended by Florida legislators and Young Professionals

Virginia A. Jacko, President & CEO of Miami Lighthouse for the Blind
They pulled out all of the stops for my first visit to the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind this week. With eighteen elected officials and aides and more than sixty guests in attendance there was an good mix of politicians and local professionals who took time out of their busy schedules to learn about the amazing programs and services being offered.  The goal seems simple: enable the vision challenged regardless of age or economic class to get the support they need and educate the rest of the community along the way.  The Lighthouse is one of those organizations that I had heard about for years, but it wasn't until a member of my family benefited from their services that I took note of all that they do in our community. This organization has amazing roots influenced directly by Helen Keller and history that includes well known figures like Dr. Bascom Palmer.  As for the future of this organization, things are looking bright! (had to say it)
