MIAMI - July 6, 2011 - Armando Hernandez, a litigation associate with Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell, has been named to The Florida Bar's Admiralty Law Committee, which is responsible for keeping practicing lawyers informed of recent developments in the field of admiralty law.
Hernandez concentrates on product liability, casualty defense, commercial litigation, and admiralty/maritime law matters. In his products liability practice, Hernandez defends personal watercrafts, boats, and boat engines manufacturers and distributors. In the commercial litigation portion of his practice, Hernandez represents clients in cases that involve issues of breach of warranty, breach of contract, fraud, and unfair trade practices.
Hernandez joined Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell in 2010 after participating in the firm's Summer Associate Program. He earned a law degree, magna cum laude, from St. Thomas University School of Law. Since joining the firm, Hernandez has gained valuable trial experience as part of trial teams in cases before the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the State Court in Fulton County, Georgia, and the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court in West Palm Beach, Florida. Hernandez also argued a pro bono appeal before Florida's Third District Court of Appeal in March which is still pending decision.
Hernandez is the author of "The Head-On Collision of Gasperini and the Derailment of Erie: Exposing the Futility of the Accommodation Doctrine," 44 Creighton L. Rev. 191 (2010). He also contributed an entry, Lucy v. Adams, to the Encyclopedia of African American Education published by SAGE Publications, Inc. in 2010.
