WEST PALM BEACH, FL – December 20, 2011 – Jerald David August, partner in the Philadelphia and West Palm Beach offices of Fox Rothschild LLP and co-chair of the firm’s Taxation and Wealth Planning Department, will serve as planning chair of the two-day ALI-ABA course on partnerships, LLCs and LLPs on January 12-13 at the US Grant Hotel in San Diego, CA and by live video webcast.
The course will feature a panel of nationally recognized tax lawyers who will provide an in-depth look into federal income taxation of partners and partnerships and review various planning strategies and potential pitfalls. In addition to serving as planning chair, August will also serve as faculty for the discussion on “Sorting Out the Mixing Bowl Provisions,” which will cover working with and avoiding mixing bowl rules in Subchapter K.
August is nationally recognized for his taxation experience in federal tax matters, federal transfer taxation, tax litigation and tax controversy, corporate and partnership taxation, estate planning for owners of closely-held businesses and international taxation (inbound and outbound). For three consecutive years, August has been named as one of the leading tax attorneys in Florida byChambers USA. August is a member of the American College of Tax Counsel, American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel and American Tax Policy Institute. August earned his LL.M. in Taxation from the New York University School of Law in 1980, his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1977, his B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business, and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, College of Arts and Sciences.
