“It is an honor to be included amid such an esteemed group of dedicated community leaders” said Lance A. Harke. “Because the Village and citizens of Miami Shores have provided so much to us for so many years it is a privilege to give a little bit back and help preserve our community for future generations.” The selection process for the Citizen of the Year award is voted upon by the Board of Directors of the Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce.
The Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce has been honoring the town’s most active and involved citizen with the Citizen of the Year award for the past 20 years. Past honorees have included Mayor Jim McCoy in 2010 and Barry University in 2011. Lance Harke was selected this year for the integral contributions he made to the Miami Shores community, particularly in his efforts to revitalize the city’s downtown “Village Place.”
Harke was featured in the debut issue of the Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce magazine, and will be honored at the Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce annual gala, which will be held in February 2012 at the Miami Shores Country Club.
Harke is currently serving as Vice President of the Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce, and was recently elected President of the board of the Legal Services of Greater Miami.
