William Shepherd Named Chair-Elect of ABA Criminal Justice Section

Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that William Shepherd, a partner in the firm's West Palm Beach office, has been named Chair-Elect of the American Bar Association's Criminal Justice Section.

The Criminal Justice Section is the unified voice of criminal justice and has more than 20,000 members including prosecutors, private defense counsel, appellate and trial judges, law professors, correctional and law enforcement personnel, law students, public defenders, and other criminal justice professionals.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Shepherd served seven years in the Office of the Attorney General of Florida. He was appointed in 2007 by former Attorney General Bill McCollum as Florida's Statewide Prosecutor and was responsible for leading eight offices throughout Florida in the investigation and prosecution of multi-circuit criminal activity. He worked in the Office of the State Attorney in Miami as an Assistant State attorney from 1996-2000.

Shepherd is a member of Holland & Knight's national White Collar Defense Team and focuses on defending individuals and corporations in state and federal criminal matters, grand jury investigations, government investigations or administrative hearings, and conducting sensitive internal investigations.

In addition to serving as Chair-Elect of the Criminal Justice Section, Shepherd is member of the ABA's Global Anti-Corruption Initiatives Task Force and is one of its two Delegates to the ABA's House of Delegates. Additionally, for the last five years he served as an Adjunct Professor in Florida Atlantic University's Criminology Department and frequently speaks and writes on the topics of white collar crime, internal investigations, public corruption, and trial tactics.
