Miami, Fla. – July 18, 2012 – With a longstanding commitment to the greater Miami business, education and Jewish community, Steven J. Brodie, a shareholder in Carlton Fields’ Miami office, now serves as President of the University of Miami (UM) Citizens Board. He was also re-elected to the Greater Miami Jewish Federation (Federation) Board of Directors.

Established in 1946, the UM’s Citizens Board is a select group of more than 300 business, professional and civic leaders who actively support the University's philanthropic efforts and promote UM programs. Since its inception, the board has raised more than $339 million for the University and advanced 87 board members to its Board of Trustees. Of this year's current UM Trustees, 24 are former or active Citizens Board members.

Founded in 1938 in response to Kristallnacht (considered the start of the Holocaust), the Federation’s mission is to mobilize human and financial resources to care of those in need, strengthen Jewish life and advance the unity, values and shared purpose of the Jewish people in Miami, in Israel, and around the world.
