Orlando, FL - Attorney Rachel D. Gebaide, a partner with Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A., has been named the Chair of the firm's Labor & Employment Law Practice Group. Rachel who joined the firm in 1998 and has been a partner since 2005, will continues to represent large and small companies as she helps them manage their human resources issues.
In addition to counseling clients on personnel issues as they arise in the workplace, Rachel prepares personnel policies, employment agreements, non-competition/non-solicitation agreements and, when necessary, separation agreements. Rachel regularly represents employers in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies in all matters pertaining to employment law, including Title VII and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Florida Civil Rights Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. Since the downturn in the economy, Rachel has observed an uptick in FLSA claims, WARN Act issues, and discrimination claims, which has kept her very busy.
Rachel is also involved in numerous community organizations, including A Gift for Teaching, BBYO (national Board of Directors), and Jewish Family Services (Board of Directors). Rachel is a Leadership Orlando alumna. She has received several awards including, most recently, BBYO's national Alumna of the Year, and she has served as co-chair of Choices, an annual fundraising event for over 450 women gathering to honor the Jewish Federation's "Harriet Ginsburg Woman of Choice."
