Gregory M. Marks has joined Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick in Sarasota as a partner practicing in the areas of tax and corporate law.
Greg was a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig (Miami office) for almost 15 years before joining Shumaker.
Prior to that time he was the general counsel of a public company, a partner in Akerman Senterfitt (Miami office) and a partner in Dykema Gossett (Detroit/Florida offices). Greg’s practice emphasizes the representation of businesses and their owners, particularly entrepreneurs, developers and investors involved in start-ups and acquisitions, and in sales and reorganizations of businesses of all kinds. He has been involved in the organization of thousands of LLCs, partnerships and other entities, and the selection and implementation of organizational structures for many types of domestic and international business enterprises and transactions. Greg is listed in Best Lawyers of America, designated a Super Lawyer in Taxation, and was a member of the Winning Team, 2010 Chambers and Partners USA Award for Excellence in Real Estate. He is rated AV® Preeminent™ 5.0 out of 5, and recently became a Certified Florida Circuit Court Mediator. Greg also serves as Reporter of the Florida Revised LLC Act Drafting Committee (2008 to present), served as Chair and Reporter of the Florida Revised Uniform Limited Partnership Act Drafting Committee, and has played a significant role on other Florida statute drafting committees over the years.
Greg received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Detroit Law School (where he served as Managing Editor of one of its law journals) and his B.A., with honors, from Michigan State University.
