MIAMI – December 29, 2011 – Holland & Knight's Managing Partner, Steven Sonberg, has elevated four associates to partners in the firm's Miami office. Joaquin Alemany, Brian Briz, Israel Encinosa and Michael Hantman, all members of the firm's Litigation Section, will be partners effective January 1, 2012.

Joaquin J. Alemany practices in the areas of complex commercial litigation, creditors' rights and bankruptcy. Mr. Alemany is also a Florida Certified Public Accountant. He received his B.A. and M.S. degrees from Florida International University and his J.D. degree from University of Miami School of Law.

Brian A. Briz focuses primarily in the areas of international, cross-border and commercial litigation and arbitration. He received his B.B.A. degree from University of Miami and his J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center.

Israel J. Encinosa focuses primarily on complex civil litigation matters, with a particular emphasis on international, cross-border, investor dispute and antitrust litigation. He received his B.A. degree from Boston College and his J.D. degree from the University of Chicago Law School.

Michael E. Hantman focuses primarily on white collar criminal defense, internal corporate investigations and complex civil litigation. Mr.Hantman is a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Florida. He received his B.A. degree from New College of Florida and his J.D. degree from University of Miami School of Law.
