May 09, 2011 – Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP announced that Andrea Gonzalez, Associate in the firm's Litigation Group, was appointed as Director to the Board of the Catholic Charities Legal Services, the Archdiocese of Miami (CCLS). Ms. Gonzalez's duties as a member and Director to the Board involves advising on issues that may directly affect the organization's mission of transforming individuals from "illegal aliens" to productive, participating members of our community.
Ms. Gonzalez is currently developing her practice in the field of Commercial Litigation. While attending Duke University School of Law, Ms Gonzalez interned with the Orange County District Attorney's Office and worked on pro bono immigration law cases. She was also a member of the Native American Law Student Association, the Hispanic Law Student Association, and participated on the Public Interest and Pro Bono Board.
CCLS assists individuals confronted with complex immigration laws and unfamiliar bureaucracy. The organization provides professional immigration services to South Florida's refugee and immigrant communities and attorney representation before the Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
