This is some pretty cool use of technology. In a previous life I worked in e-discovery and the buzz was/is all about text messaging, tweets, etc. This service seems to have the answer. Using an image in the browser so that the characters of text are indistinguishable from each other and seems to separate the metadata. Think jpg vs PDF with OCR.
