Fort Lauderdale, FL – Attorney Gary M. Farmer, Sr.of Farmer, Jaffe, Weissing, Edwards, Fistos & Lehrman, P.L. was awarded the Florida Justice Association’s Al J. Cone Lifetime Achievement Award during the Masters of Justice event on October 28th in Miami.
The first president and founding member of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, as it was known back then, and founder of FLAG, now the Florida Justice PAC, was Al J. Cone. He had the vision to see a need for a statewide association of trial attorneys and dedicated his life to the civil justice system of our state. Al’s lifetime of service to the Florida Justice Association (FJA) and to the consumers of Florida spanned nearly five decades. The Al J. Cone Lifetime Achievement Award was created in his honor to pay tribute to an attorney who has pledged their life to upholding consumer rights and fighting for justice. The award reads: “A career of leadership; A career of example setting; A career of devotion; A career of courage.” The winner of this award must be a leader, dedicated and poised not only for personal achievement as an attorney, but also success as an individual.
Gary Farmer, Sr. has spent his career educating the judiciary and citizens alike and has helped ensure that the courts remained open to all for fair redress of disputes. Farmer began his legal career in 1973 as a law clerk to a U.S. District Judge. In 1975, he became a partner in the law firm Abrams, Anton, Robbins, Resnick & Schneider P.A. He moved to the firm Goldberg, Young & Borkson, P.A. in 1982. From 1984 to 1991, he worked for Gary M. Farmer, P.A. Later, he was appointed to the Fourth District Court of Appeal where he served for 20 years.
