Haliczer Pettis & Schwamm announced its hiring of Jodi N. Cohen as a senior associate

The Florida law firm of Haliczer Pettis & Schwamm (HPS) today announced its hiring of Jodi N. Cohen as a senior associate in its Fort Lauderdale, Fla., office. Cohen focuses her practice in the areas of commercial litigation, employment law, alternative dispute resolutions (arbitrations, administrative hearings, mediations), personal injury litigation and medical malpractice. She also works closely with Eugene K. Pettis, a co-founder of the firm, in providing corporate, individual and governmental clients with social media legal counsel.

Prior to joining HPS, Cohen worked for almost a decade at other Florida law firms where she gained extensive experience in complex commercial disputes as well as knowledge of social media issues in the workplace. She currently serves as a board member of Broward County Women Lawyers’ Association, as General Counsel for Jack and Jill Children’s Center (2004 – present) and as a Board Member (2009 – present) for the National Council for Take Stock in Children. She has also served as President of the Broward County Women Lawyers’ Association (2008 – 2009) and as a Board Member for the Broward County Lawyers’ Association (2004 – present).

Cohen received a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and sciences in 1998 from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla., and a master’s in business administration (MBA) from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in 1999. She received a Juris Doctorate in 2002 from the University of Miami School of Law, in Miami.

Cohen is a member of the Broward County Bar Association and is admitted to The Florida Bar (2002). She is admitted to practice in all District Courts in Florida, including Southern District, Middle District and Northern District. She also is admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit (2009).
