Lyons & Lurvey, P.A. Partner Daniel A. Lurvey Appointed to The League of Prosecutors Board of Directors

MIAMI (March 28, 2011) – Daniel A. Lurvey, partner at the Miami-based law firm Lyons & Lurvey, P.A., has been appointed to the board of directors of The League of Prosecutors, a Florida-based bar organization made up of current and former prosecutors dedicated to educating the public about the justice system and local judiciary. Lurvey will serve a three-year term.

“I am honored to serve The League of Prosecutors as a board member,” said Lurvey. “The organization plays a pivotal role in raising awareness about the criminal justice system and I look forward to working with my fellow prosecutors to enhance its mission.”

With more than 20 years of legal experience, Lurvey, a former state prosecutor, heads up the criminal defense practice at Lyons & Lurvey, P.A. where he represents clients with serious felony charges in state and federal courts. As a prosecutor, he served as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County under then State Attorney Janet Reno and was eventually promoted to Division Chief in the Felony Division where he prosecuted first-degree murders, served as lead counsel in more than 100 jury trials, and supervised the prosecution of hundreds of felony matters.

The League of Prosecutors is made up of current Florida prosecutors (state or federal) and former prosecutors with at least two full years of prosecutor experience in Florida. Members include prosecutors, criminal defense attorneys, civil lawyers, in-house counsel, and non-practicing lawyers. In addition to educating the public about the justice system and local judiciary, the League also strives to bring recognition to local judges who serve the community and those working in the criminal justice system.
